Canning: 6 quarts and 7 pints of sliced peaches with 2 quarts peach freezer jam...5 sticky kids, 1 crazy sticky floor, 1 sticy yucky table, a pile of dishes and a hot house...what a great day!!!
So we found peaches 50 cents a pound at sprouts market. The kids and I grabbed pounds and pounds of peaches. The kids were totally excited about all the peaches until they found out we were going to can them.
I don't know what they were upset about...as soon as I said it was time to can, they all jumped up. They got out the knives, cutting boards, bowls, lemon juice and got to the table. Logan shocked the peaches, Jakob and Lukas pealed the skins off, Kellsie cut them into slices. They worked out the system all on their own. now Zoe, she sat in the middle of the table and would take peaches from one pile and put it in the wrong pile over and over again. LOVE IT!
They JEff came home and finished up the cutting. Kids cleaned up and took baths (I think more was one them then in the jars). Now I am just processing them.
I am so grateful for hardworking kids. I am also thankful for a husband who found more canning jars at the flea market and bought them for me. Even though he swore he would not let anymore jars in the house!
