Thinking about how much I love my kids! They make me laugh! I love playing with them, cooking with them and learning with them. They are growing up so fast. As I enjoy watching them grow and develop I'm just a little sad that they can't stay little.

Day off

Today the kids have off from school. I was hoping to sleep in till 8am to give myself a little treat. Since the kids are older they sleep in a little longer on days off.

No dice!!! Zoe up at 545am and Lukas up at 6pm!

I love being a mom! I understand and accept the sacrifices that motherhood demands. But I would really like to sleep in one morning! You know, wake up without a an alarm.

We cleaned all the doors in the house today as a chore. Jake and Logan said they couldn't reach the top, so I sentry help them. Looks like they solved the problem their selves!!!!

Saturday morning chores

Every Saturday we have to do some chores to help keep the house clean.

I write a list if chores I would like done around the house (wash windows, wash doors, organize kit cabinets, etc). Usually about 12. Then the kids rotate who is in charge. The kid in charge writes the numbers 1 to 15 down on paper and rewrites the jobs on those numbers and includes freespace, 10 min job and kids choice.

Rules:
1. Each job is only 20 min. No extra time allowed. But u can finish early.
2. All people at home have to clean
3. No complaining!!!
4. Only 6 jobs allowed (2 hours max each Saturday)

Then we gather in living room and on the count of three we show our hand and reveal the number of fingers we are holding up. Add them all up and that's what number job we do.

Jeff took off most of this past week. It has been great having him home! We moved a bunch of book shelves and books around. We cleaned out our master closet (tons of paperwork! I hate paperwork! toss it all!!!), played with the kids and spend tons of time with the family.

Last year we started a new tradition. For dinner we have all appetizers! This year Jeff made: South western egg rolls., buffalo chicken chunks, mozzarella sticks and loaded potato skins! YUM!!!

This is the first ever Giras Family Dance off! Kellsie got Dance Central 2 for Christmas. So for new years eve we spend some time getting our grove on. Soooo much fun!

I think my favorite part was when Jeff and Jakob danced to "Baby Got Back". Jeff has some major moves! But I am afraid that if I post any pictures of him dancing, then he will post some of me.

Christmas!!!

Our Christmas was a little different this year! The kids and I had planned a ton of things to do the week before Christmas. Library, door bell ditch goodies, bake cookies, zoo, science fair projects, gardens and the list goes on. Of course the first day off of school we start getting sick. That's right! the FLU!!! we passed it around and around and finally today (the day after Christmas) we are well! THANK HEAVENS!!!

We didn't get Christmas cards out, or door bell ditch our friends. But we did get to spend a lot of quality time helping each other feel better.

For Christmas we transformed our front room into a game room. We got a tv moved the dvd's and music into that room. Moved the sound system in there and moved the couch around and put in a new rug. it looks great. we will want to put up floating shelves, but ran out of time.

This way when the kids have friends over or sleep overs there is one more place for them to be without everyone having to be in the living room.

On Christmas eve we did our same stuff. Ate pizza for dinner and dressed up in costumes to act out the Nativity Story. Jeff ready from the bible, and we each took a part (or two). Lukas was Joseph, Kellsie was the donkey and wise man, Jakob was an angel and wise man, Logan was the innkeeper and wiseman. Jeff and I were shepherds (and photographer and director). It was a little hard with Lukas running off script, but once he figured out what we were doing, he did great!

After the story we opened our Christmas Eve PJ's. aunt Kim buys them for the kids. Jeff and I buy for each other. That way on Christmas morning when we are taking pictures, our kids have cute pjs. The pajamas were so cute. aunt kim always does a great job picking them out for the kids. Pictures to follow!

Jeff then took Lukas up to bed while the older kids brought all the gifts down and put them under the tree. Then we put all the gifts int he stockings. This is another cool tradition we have. we each pick a name and we have 10.00 at the dollar store to buy stocking stuffers for that person. Then the kids went to bed and Jeff and I reorganized the room and put up the TV.

Christmas morning Jeff was the first one up (too excited I guess). Then we went down stairs. I am grateful that I have such good kids. We took a long time opening gifts so we could make sure everyone said thank you and saw what each other got.

Lukas got clothes, shoes, books, action figures and nerf gun. Aunt kim bought him toys and clothes.

Jakob got clothes, books, nerf gun, Xbox games, movies and bay-blades. Aunt Kim bought him a jacket, shirts and gift card

Kellsie got books, books, more books and even some more books, t shirts, Xbox games, movies and camera. Aunt Kim bought her shirts and gift card.

Zofia got plates and spoons for when she is ready to eat and clothes. Aunt Kim got her clothes and this adorable glow worm (but it is a glow sea horse).

Uncle Tim and Aunt Kim send a box of hickory farms meats and cheeses. YUMMY! the kids have been eating them for lunches.

My kids are so blessed to have such great family that loves and cares for them. And thinks about them this time of year.

Since Jeff and I were still sick we were unable to attend church on Christmas day. We were really sad, but we didn't want to get others sick. We spent the day as a family. Playing games and reading books. We even got to talk to Aunt Kim and Until Tim on Skype and see our new nephew, cooper. He is adorable and we were so excited to see him. We talked to Aunt Kim, Uncle Mark, Grandpa Logan and it sounded like everyone was having a great Christmas.

Now that we are all healthy, we have to cram everything into the next week! We can do it! I've got great kids and an amazing husband!

I know how far behind I am with the blog and I am really sorry. The posts are out of order, but at least they are up.

Life with five kids is great, but takes a lot of time, so the blog is at the end of the things to do list.

Right now is is winter brake (not Christmas brake, because that would be silly). Kellsie and Zoe have the flu, but I think they are almost over it. Which is good because we have a lot of fun things to do. The boys want to go to the zoo and gardens and Kellsie wants to go to the library (crazy, I know, but she is out of books again).

We have a couple days before Cristmas so I am working hard on the boys quilts. the three older kids know about santa, so they asked to help wrap gifts and get them ready. I said yes, but they had to twist my arm.

Jeffs only off a couple days since its retail crazy right now, but when we see him we try and make the most of it.

All Christmas parties are over, so it is just family time and I love it!

Zofia is such a blessing and we love her so much. I couldn't imagine my life without any of my perfect children.

About time little girl!!!

We have been waiting for you!

On monday, October 10th, Jeff calls from work and says he is going to work a night shift the next day. I tell him the baby is never going to come so it doesn't matter what times he works. The next day Jeff is getting ready to walk out the door from work and I say "I think my water broke". He turns and says " Think or know? "

About a month before Zoe was born we found out that I was positive for Strep b. An infection found in about 30% of women. I had never had it before and it doesn't really do anything to the mom, but it can cause problems with the baby when delivered. I was told I needed antibiotics but I couldn't take them until I went into labor and I had to finished them before she came. They take 4 hours for the whole round of antibiotics to be given. We were worried because when I am not induced my labors are only 5 hours and I was already dilated to a 4. If we didn't get the antibiotics they would keep us 48 hours and watch for complications like pneumonia (and a bunch of other things online that stressed me out). Also because I am RH Neg that means that my babies are all jaundice they are suppose to get worse with each child. With Lukas it was really bad and we were in the NICU for a week just for that problem.

So we had been praying and praying that Heavenly Father would take care of her and help her come home safe.

We went into the hospital and it turns out my water didn't brake it was just leaking. BEST THING EVER! They were able to start me on antibiotics and then after the first round they broke my water and started another round of antibiotics. They did find that Zofia had malconia (where she poops while in my tummy). This is not good because if the baby breaths it in, it can cause problems.

At 9:59pm Zofia Anne Giras was born. 8.2lbs and 21" long!!!

The NICU Docs were there to suction her out and make sure he was ok. And she was!!!

After some hugging him Jeff was off to pick up the kids and bring them back to meet their sister. Lukas would not come hug me because the IV's were still in and it was freaking him out, but he was thrilled about the baby! They all took turns holding and loving her. Jeff took the kids home and Kellsie stayed the night with me and Zoe. The drs made us check twice for diabetes because they said she was really big for being 9 days early. I told them that the drs dates were wrong and she was 2 days late. They didn't believe me until they ran the tests and she came back normal.

Since we had all the antibiotics and she was low on jaundice levels they sent us home.

NICU REUNION

Since Lukas was in the NICU after he was born, our family is invited to the NICU reunion every year at the hospital. It is a ton of fun. They bring in games, food and entertainment for the families.

This year as we were walking in we saw the storm troopers. We had just re watched starwars, so Lukas knew who they were. He was so excited he tried to follow them everywhere. In fact I couldn't take a good picture because he wouldn't look at me he kept looking at them.

They had a ton of prizes for the games. He liked the puppy dog mask.

Logan update

Logan is in 5th grade and goes to the same school as Kellsie goes to. He was worried at first, because he didn't know anyone and it was a middle school. But he found out that they have a flag football team and life was good. At first since he was a 5th grader he was 2nd string defense. But by 2nd practice he was moved to 1st string defense. Now his dream is to play quarterback in the NFL and then go one to own his own team and stadium. So this defense thing was ok, but not what he wanted.

Then the quarterback asked for Logan to be put on offense. The rest of the season he played offense. Protected the quarterback multiple times, interceptions and he caught the ball too (I am sure there is a cool football term for that, but I don't know it and I don't want to ask Jeff).

As it turns out the person at school who signed them up had put them in the wrong age group and they ended up playing high school teams. So they lost every game, but they sure looked good! Logan can't wait til next year when he can play against kids his own age (and as a mom watching, it would be nice not to see my son block against a kid with facial hair and tattoos).

Logan is the highest level in Math . They moved him up to 6th grade math, but he really wants to go to 7th grade math. His teacher is teaching him on the side, so he can move forward. Logan just learned that he LOVES to read. He only liked to read before, but now he is on fire. He is working on the Percy Jackson series along with reading one book for class and the Rangers Apprentice for a book report. It's getting expensive to have all these readers in the family.

Logan is great with Zofia. When she gets upset he sings "We are Family" and she quiets right down. Its nice having all the helpful siblings to love and care for Zofia.

Jakob Update

My sweet adorable Jakob! Jakob is in 2nd grade and at the school without any siblings. He was sad at first, but then he found out that he has tons of friends there, so he is not alone. He likes to play football and soccer at recess and sometimes games on the playground with the girls, but he doesn't like to be the prince! So the girls let him play the bad guy in whatever make up game they are playing.

Jakob is doing great at school this year (and every year) he has gotten 100% to 101% on each of his spelling tests. He gets an extra % if he can do the bonus word. He is in the highest level of reading and his name goes on the wall every month (not really sure what that means, but it is a big deal and he gets really excited)!

When we were waiting for Zofia to come, he would pray every day that she wouldn't come until the weekend so he didn't have to miss any school. The day the kids were going to come to the hospital to see Zoe, he asked if we could take him to school instead. But latter he choose to come to the hospital.

He is great with Zofia. He wraps her up and sings to her until she is asleep. He is a natural!

Kellsie update

Kellsie is in 7th grade (middle school) and is really enjoying it. She is especially having fun in her English class. Her teachers has them do some creative book reports. Like she just turned in one where she had to make a "cereal box" with the theme of her book and even include a prize. It was adorable!!! I didnt' take a picture, but take my word for it. This week she is turning in a "travel pamphlet" from a place where one of her books is set. Of course she picked twilight (big surprise)!

She had to do a paper based on a tv show that was out. She was having so much fun with it, that the 5 page paper has turned into a 15 page paper and she is still going. After she turned in the paper for class her teacher took her aside and told her with a little more foreshadowing in her work she could see kellsie writing young adult books. Which is funny because that is exactly what kellsie is trying to turn that paper into. So far the book is great and she is adding more and more to it every day.

Kellsie stayed with me the first night at the hospital. She looked after the baby while I was sleeping or eating the meals. She even brought more outfits for Zofia to wear and change into.

And here is Kellsie and Zofia. Kellsie just changed Zoe's clothes to match the strip of blue in kellsie's hair. FUNNY!

I sure love Kellsie! She is so amazing! She was asked to serve as the Beehive President at our church. Its the president for all the 12 and 13 year olds in the youth group. She helps plan the weekly activities and attends youth meetings with the Bishop to help grow the youth group. I have been really impressed with her leadership skills and I can't wait to see what activities she plans next.

So before Zofia was born Lukas was trying to figure out why all this little girl stuff was coming into the house. Hair bows especially. I put one on him at the shower thinking he would hate it...he didn't.

Lukas likes to play with the laundry baskets. Of course he has to take all the clean clothes out before he can play with them. LOL!

That's Right! Lukas thinks he is ready to potty train. The only problem is that I don't want to do it! Potty Training is not fun at all and it requires all your energy and emotional stability and I am low on both! But every once in a while I let him "Pretend". We bought him the little seat with Elmo and Big Bird swimming and he spends most of his time looking at the pictures. Whatever works!

I love it! The 2012 Presidential Race is here and as always the crazy people like to say things out loud.

Today I watched a supporter of Perry say that the Mormons are a cult. That was nice of him. He went on to say that about every religion except his. He talked about Christians and that we "mormons" are not. I am totally confused. The name of the Church I attend is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" we were nicked name the "Mormons" because of another book of scripture which we believe in "The Book of Momon". We believe the Bible to be the word of God as well as the Book of Mormon. They back each other up and both talk and teach of Christ. So as I pulled up the dictionaries version of a Christian, I just laughed.

Funny

NO BABY YET! I guess that's really not that funny! 3 weeks ago the Dr told me I was 4 cm dilated and I would have the baby any min and I wouldn't go past the weekend. I freaked because Jeff was in Fl for the rest of the week and I didn't want to have the baby alone.

Well, it has been three weeks now and still nothing. I have contractions all the time. They are about 5-6 min apart, but they one last a couple hours and then they leave for a while.

I can't wait to meet this little girl!

Baby Shower gifts!

So Kellsie (my amazing daughter) gave me a baby shower with my friends from Girl Scouts, their daughters and our neighbors. Kellsie did an amazing job decorating, planning, hostessing, etc. It was so amazing and fun. Here are just a sample of the gifts my wonderful friends gave us.Kara gave me this cute outfit. Ballerina skirt with tights and a shirt that says princess. ADORABLE! This might be her first church outfit!
Stacy got this shirt that says "Daddy did my hair" LOVE IT!
Laurel and Jess got me this outfit, that says my mommy is the best.
Sharon and MAriah got this adorable bath robe. Turtles how cute!!!

We went to the aquarium a couple weeks ago. Lukas loves fish and I love air conditioning! The pictures is not the best because it is with my phone. But still so cool.
I took boys to judo last wed. Its a combo dojo and boxing ring. While the boys were working out, Lukas was boxing. It was way too funny!
My friend summer wanted to work on her cake decorating skills (which dont need work at all). Kellsie made the cake and summer decorated it. Even though the team sucks, she did an amazing job!

Route 66 Diner

We went out to dinner last night to Route 66 Diner. It was so much fun. Boys got frito pie, Jeff and kellsie got hamburgers and I got green chili chicken enchiladas. Lukas ate off everyones plate. Food was great. Afterwards we got 2 of their amazing shakes. Chocolate covered strawberries and apple Carmel. YUM!

So today is wed. jeff is off on friday, sat, sun and monday (this never happens). We have to cram so much stuff into those days.

Kellsie and Logan start school on tuesday, so I need to get a couple more things off their lists. Nothing major, but requires running around. I am sure going to miss them when they are at school. Life is going to get really packed and crazy and I have no idea how I am going to do it all, but I am sure it will work out.

Lukas and I will be all alone for a while until Zofia comes. Then things will get a little more entertaining. I love having all my kids. Life is so much fun!

Jakob's first day of school today. he has always been my hugger. And when I dropped him off at school I got NO hug!!! I got a nod! What is that. Years of changing diapers, feeding, cooking, cleaning and washing your clothes and NO hug. I hate this growing up thing!!!

So we have had a really busy summer: Started with all the kids making AB honor roll at school and finishing the last week of school getting ice cream and sonic every day. Then we went right into:

Playing for Lukas and Jakob

Vacation in Buffalo

Play Dates and Slumber Parties

and all the other home improvement projects, holidays, bdays and church events going on. We just finally settled down and feel we can breath. we have one more week before Jakob goes to school and one more month before kellsie and logan go back. Lukas is going to have a hard time being all alone again.

We have rearranged all the rooms, so we are ready for the sweet little baby girl who is coming sometime in oct.

Then in November Jakob gets baptized and we bless the baby all in one weekend.

I don't think out life will ever slow down, but I am grateful to be the mother of such wonderful kids. I love them so much and I want the best for them. I am also grateful for the best husband in the world! He works hard to provide for us so I can stay home and raise the kids. He always finds the time to play and teach the kids and make sure we go on lots and lots of dates. I also thing he is pretty darn cute!

We got back from Buffalo on the 3rd of July. Jeff had the 4th off, so we ran and did some grocery shopping and some firework shopping. the boys are old enough to lite some of the fireworks. Crazy scary for the mommy, but they have a good day who teaches them and makes sure they are safe.

Lukas liked the fireworks in the sky, but as soon as we started lighting them in the street, he got tired and went to bed. notice the drool mark on my shirt? life of a mom!

We went to the Falls (USA side) and the kids went on maid of the Mist boat ride. aunt Kim, lukas and myself stayed on land as I wasn't sure how I would do on a boat that moved while I still had morning sickness.

Town Fair with Aunt kim

Buffalo Trip

At the end of June we went to Buffalo to see family. We were able to see everyone but Uncle Tim and his wife Kim because they were on their vaccation.

Ice Skating with the Girl Scouts

Kellsie's Girl Scout Troop is no more so they took the rest of the money in their account and played! they went ice skating, to ice cream, to a hotel for a slumber party and then to get pedicures and hair styles. Here are the pics of the skating. Mostly of Kellsie cuz she is my favorite Girl Scout!

Jeff took Kellsie to a U2 concert in Denver. they got their early and spent a lot of time taking pictures of themselves picking up people below or squishing their heads. So much alike those two are.

San Diego Sea World

We went to Sea World (HOLY COW THE MONEY) But the kids had so much fun! Wish we could have stayed there another day. Lukas loves fish so he had the most fun.Here he was watching shammu and sitting on Jeff's lap. He wouldn't even take his eyes off the show long enough to find the popcorn. he just kept his hand in the bag so no one else could have some.
Jakob and Lukas loved the turtles. Jakob is so kind to Lukas helping him get up so he can see closer. what a good brother.
Kellsie took Lukas in the tunnel to see the sharks. all I kept thinking about it Jaws. I almost ran through the tunnel. stupid 80's movie that still gives me nightmares.
Why can't my kids open their eyes at the same time?
The star fish exhibit was way cool. The kids spend a lot of time here.

we also went to do the rides for the older kids while Lukas and I went to see more fish. The kids were really tired by the time we left.

After Sea World we went to aunt Rosie's families house were we celebrated conners bday. It is so nice to be around family. The kids ran around and played the whole time! Rose's family is amazing and we love spending time with them.

Outside the visitor Center they have a hands on place for the kids. They learned how to pan for gold. wash laundry, fill water from a pump, build a well and a bunch of other things.Lukas was thrilled that we were letting him play with water. We had to pick him up and carry him out because he didn't want to leave.

Jakob thought it was real gold. and was very sad when we told him it was painted rocks.

Mormon Battalion Visitor Center

They redid the visitor center and we were so excited to see what they had done. This is so kid friendly my kids wanted to go back and do it again.They dressed them up in what they would have worn had then been on the mormon battalion. Jakob LOVED this. they let him hold the gun (fake) and everything.

Hodads!!!!

We went to Hodad's a suffers hang out for lunch with Uncle Robbie and Aunt Melea. I love this place and was very sad that my morning sickness didn't allow me to eat the food (except for fries).Keeping Lukas happy at all the places we stopped and ate out was very difficult. but He loves kellsie so much that he will sit and play with her anytime. she is such a life saver!

Kids and Potty Training

the kids really wanted to Potty Train lukas. So we went out and bought a potty seat and let the kids have at it. They were excited for the first day. Taking him to the bathroom everytime he wanted. But Lukas didn't want to go, he just wanted to sit. I refuse to potty train him until he is 5! i hate potty training! But Jeff just reminded me that if we don't get him potty trained before the baby, that we will have two kids in diapers. YUCK! Guess I better get on that!

Aunt Kims House

The boys spent the night at aunt kims once. It was the first time Jakob had spent a night away from us. He was totally worried at first, but then aunt Kim's house was so much fun that he forgot how much he missed us. They played football in the front yard. Went hiking to the stream. Watched movies and ate a bunch of cool food.We went to pick the boys up and hung out for a while. Jeff and Jakob can't sit next to each other without missing around. They wrestled most of the time.
Logan said he felt very comfortable and safe there. nice compliments!!!

Uncle Marks

We were able to go to Uncle Mark's house a couple times while we were there. So relaxing and fun for the kids. he has a big back yard where they can run and play. The boys even spent the night there and didn't want to come back!jeff trying to relax on a hammack, but hard to do when Lukas and Bella want to play.

While we were up in Buffalo they had a bday party for Logan and lukas since their bdays were so close. It's nice to celebrate with family. Grandma bought a great ice cream cake that the kids (and Jeff especially) loved.aunt Kim gave Logan another nice shirt to wear. He loves it and wears it all the time.

Cub Scout Camp

Logan went to two camps this year. The first one was for cub scouts. I wasn't able to go this year because of the baby, but he had a lot of fun. This is the last day where the family could come and see what they have been doing. here they were making sundeas for their den. They lined them up on tarps with ice cream and toppings and had a race to see what den could make theirs the fastest. GROSS! and FUN! at the same time!
Then Logan went to twilight camp for webelos. He went for 4 days at 4pm and didn't get home until after 9pm. He had a bunch of great leaders who went with him and he had a lot of fun bonding with his new den.

Pioneer Trek

This was Kellsie's first Pioneer Trek. They were suppose to be gone for 3 days. she had to make the shirt her self and she did a great job! Kellsie had to come back the next day from the Trek because her feet couldn't hold up to the amount of walking they had to do. She was suppose to ride in the medical truck most of the time, but the medical guy didn't get that message and made her and Jessica walk. After Kellsie came home she was unable to walk for 4 days just to recover. She was sad she had to come home. She had a blast doing everything else! and she looked adorable!!!

Sea World

While in San Diego, we went to Sea World. We went to Seseame Street 4D while we were there. We only went because we thought Lukas would like it. But it turned out to be one of the best this we did while we were there. The 4th part was that they would spray water every couple of mins. The funny part of that was that the seat in front of Jeff was broken and instead of spraying water in his face it would spray it at his shirt or at his shorts. he walked out looking like he wet his pants. SO MUCH FUN!

GS end of the year party

Kellsie's Girl scout troop has dispanded. Girls have too much going on. So they took their money and went to a hotel for a sleep over then to go get pedicures and hair styles. She looks like a babe! Dad was not too thrilled that she looked that old. he said he was in charge of doing her hair from now on. Fun times!

Logan decorated his own ice cream cake for his bday. I think it is a smiley face with a mustache. He is a little crazy, but we love him anyway. he had two friends spend the night. junk foot, computer games, trampoline and football. Can life get any better. happy Birthday Logan.
